What happens in a MOSQUITO BITE?

First of all only female mosquitos bite. The mosquito uses its proboscis (elongated sucking mouthpart) to dig through the skin levels until it finds the capillary or a blood vessel. The mosquito saliva contains an anticoagulant that keeps away the human blood from clotting, so that they can keep drinking blood. The human body identifies the mosquito saliva as a foreign invader and immediately releases a chemical called histamine for a combat, thus causing itching and swelling.
